Via verda del Serpis

Via verda del Serpis

The Via verda del Serpis is a greenway that follows the old railway line that used to import English coal from Gandia Port to Alcoi. This greenway crosses amazing mountain ranges comprising of the old railway infrastructure (tunnels, bridges, train stations, etc.) and the irrigation system derived from the river (irrigation canals, weirs, windmills, etc.).
In order to integrate the wayfinding system in its environment, we used a neo-grotesque typography and designed bold and pointed icons to evoke the rockiness and the dryness of the region's mountains. The coloring and duotone images are inspired in the zone's landscape and aim to reflect the brightness of the mediterranean, and it's personality and culture. The wordmark evokes the local path signposting and the text on path emphasises the dynamic nature of the landscape, distinguishing itself from the nearby greenways that are long dull straight paths.
